Peter Woo is a prominent billionaire and influential figure in Hong Kong’s business and philanthropic communities. Born on September 5, 1946, in Shanghai, China, Woo is best known for his leadership of Wheelock and Company Limited and The Wharf (Holdings) Limited, two of Hong Kong's most significant real estate and investment conglomerates.

Woo’s family moved to Hong Kong in the early 1950s, where he later attended St. Paul's Co-educational College. He pursued higher education in the United States, earning a degree in physics and mathematics from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from Columbia Business School. His academic background laid a solid foundation for his future business endeavors.

In 1973, Peter Woo married Bessie Pao, daughter of shipping magnate Y.K. Pao. This connection facilitated his entry into the business world, and in 1975, Woo joined the family business. He took the helm of Wheelock and Company Limited in 1986, steering the company through various economic cycles and expanding its portfolio. Under his leadership, the company diversified its investments, focusing on real estate, infrastructure, and telecommunications.

Woo played a pivotal role in transforming The Wharf (Holdings) Limited, a subsidiary of Wheelock, into one of Hong Kong’s leading property developers. Wharf's portfolio includes iconic developments such as Harbour City and Times Square, which are among the most prominent commercial properties in Hong Kong.

Beyond his business achievements, Peter Woo is a dedicated philanthropist. He has contributed significantly to various causes, particularly in education, healthcare, and cultural preservation. Woo is known for his support of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
